Well, there will be variation between printers and that is pressman, equipment, inks, paper, etc. The window for newsprint 4 color is very wide and thus the range of what's acceptable is also very wide. So, don't be too hard on yourself as this isn't all on you. Also, this is good stuff to keep in mind as you set and communicate with a customer, boss, art director.
