Being a graphic designer doing 2 major publications, it sure is nice to have the prepress problems handled by "my Robot"...even better is the incredible support nework here on this forum, even in the middle of the night...when all of us prepress nutcases are hard at work.

How to check, repair acrobat pdf files, PMS spot colors?
Even though my pdf files made with PDF-Robot are great, I have so much clean up on the files others are sending me. I am getting so many PDF files in as supplied ads that are poorly prepared. Everyone wants to send PDF files now but nobody knows how to send a good one.
Is there a way to repair the PMS spot colors that are used in an advertisers pdf file. We are regularly getting acrobat pdf files from ad agencies that have too many pms spot colors or should be all CMYK. I am looking for different ways to globally convert spot colors in an adobe acrobat pdf file to CMYK without using enfocus pitstop. Is there a way to do this without enfocus pitstop?

Acrobat - Great product, support! Need help with font problem
Great product, support! Need help with font problem. .
I've been using PDF Robot for our magazines since january '03 and I think it's fantastic. And I certainly can't forget about the technical support. They've been able to guide me through the subtle nuances of the software. Now everything pretty much runs like clockwork.
However, I've been experiencing one recurring problem after our company switched print vendors several months ago. It has to do with fonts.
We'll create PDFs and print them without issue but when the PDFs reach our vendor they will encounter a font that either doesn't display correctly, won't print correctly, or the letters in a line of type are crowded or overlapped. We've tried to solve the problem by sharing our fonts with our vendor as well as adjusting tracking and kearning in the original Quark document. We had some success but we still continue to experience the same problem from time to time. Would anyone have any suggestions as to a permanent, effective solution? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
