Graphic Design Forum :: RE: Xerox DocuColor 250 - Color Issues
The easiest problem to fix is the RGB or "Rich Black". This is a correction that can be made in Acrobat with PitStop Plug-In. There is an PitStop action that can do this automatically and you can have that as a problem that is found and fixed automatically in a few clicks. Use PitStop to check and repair this problem. Humidity, Temprature of environment must be controlled in the print environment. A color test form can be run at each shift and checked agains same from previous day, from other machines. Hi Jim, Thanks for these insights. It is a point; how inks are absorbed into the paper makes a real effect on the end result; in your example, perhaps the mix of 3 inks was approaching the original 200% coverage, and yet it worked best. I've noted a few references to GCR techniques for higher-absorbency stock. It is something to keep in mind. If it is a 4 color Heidelberg Speedmaster with all the bells and whistles, then it can hold the ink better than a 1965 4 color ancient press. The pressman makes a difference too. Select your rectangle and then ungroup it (Modify > Ungroup). It becomes a closed path instead of a 'rectangle' at which point you can use the direct-select tool (the hollow arrow) to select individual points and move them as you wish. - Read More at This Link..

Glad to hear you have found a away to convert your files as you want. If you want to do more with the files, please have a look at my suggestion, as once set up this is a total seamless workflow, where you drop the files in a in folder and retrieve multiple formated, change the colour proflle or resized etc... from pickup folder Ben Longs automator script cover the majority of what Photoshop can do by hand and is easy to implement as a drag and drop workflow. If you can create an action it can also implement them to. Good to hear you have resolved your problem. Happy New Year _ Graham - Read More at This Link..

In this case, Omega, that's the point. We put a gif version of all of the ads from our newspaper up on our website. To update on this, I found exactly what I needed. Under File > Scripts > Image Processing you can use that to convert an entire folder of PDFs (or every other image type for that matter) into JPGs, TIFs, or EPSs. But you can also run an action on them before it converts. In that action I have the PDF being rasterized (with no import options dialogue box), resized to 725 px wide, 72 dpi, RGB, then Save for Web. The only slight drawback is that it HAS to create a folder of either JPG, TIF or EPS. But... - Read More at This Link..

In this new 3d Studio Max tutorial, we are going to create a childís tricycle. This is going to give us lots of practice with such things as the Loft modifier, Boolean operations, and much more besides. Before we begin though, it is extremely important to visualize what the end result will look like. In the following sections you will find a step by step tutorial about how to make an old poster. You can create such an image either from scratch. Follow the step by step instructions for more details........ Modeling a childís tricycle - Read More at This Link..

In Acrobat Pro (on XP) I'm given a set list of paper sizes that I can scan at. But I'd like to set my own size when I'm scanning booklets. I've searched for how. I've found stuff on altering the size when output, but I'd rather start with the size I need. Prepress Software :: looking for help with automation solution in Photoshop
Hi All. I'm back again with another round of questions. Of course, any help or advice is greatly appreciated. In yesteryears, our company sent out a Photoshop droplet that opened a folder full of PDFs, rasterized them, saved as GIFs, and closed without saving. Unfortunately, it only ran in PS 4. With the advent of PS 6 and 7, they sent out instructions for making this droplet workable in those 2 versions. Now we're up to CS3, and the droplet does not work. I've tried to make my own versions of it, but it tries to save the files with the same file... - Read More at This Link..

The reality is that several printers use windows machines and have bought software to impose material on plates or otherwise. They use PC's. The bulk of prepress material is nowadays pdf-material. It is good to check your material on a PC, read it in acrobat for sometimes there may be hick-ups between the two platforms. Publishers complain sometimes it does not work at it supposed to be working. But if I really had a say, I would say mac os x is more friendlier to do design-work. It is thanks to adobe and its tools the gap has been closing, though the keys work differently under windows.... - Read More at This Link..

Okay, so it would seem that there is a major disconnect there. If a printer - lets define him here as a press owner that can take a 1 bit file and somehow image it onto some plate - well, if that printer asks for 'someone" to send then 1 bit tiffs (pre screened or not) - this is a perfectly reliable thing ! Uses, I believe, the sRGB space as the conversion point, though I'm no expert on this. With virtually all the RGBs we get, it does a perfectly adequate job, and well. Plus it's not very expensive; certainly compared to other more fully featured PDF editors. It does a few other things as well, like shrinking PDFs for emailing/proofing. Web hosting is very inexpensive these days. Most basic web hosting packages include all the space, bandwidth and frills you ever need. Use caution when selecting a web host. Make sure that whoever you choose to host your site has a phone number and e mail, otherwise, when issues arise...such as your site being down, e mail not working, etc...you may be waiting days for support. Prepress Software :: RE: reference guides for Adobe Acrobat?
Hello, I would recommend that you read these first two articles that I wrote. This first an ideal preflight checklist for graphic designers, publishers, and prepress operators. The article is a comprehensive breakdown on how to improve your file submissions to the printing company. It's a must read for graphic design school students and those already employed as graphic designers. Written by a long time prepress and graphic arts trainer and manager, me. Prepress Software :: RE: Microsoft Excel .XLS file import issue in QuarkXPress
Hello, The way you are doing it is a method that may (usually) work but only with very simple files. So, what I do is always make the file into an PDF, then an EPS, that (always) works. Quark Xpress prefers an EPS or Tiff over anything else. (1) What you do is print the file from MS Excel to Distiller, be sure color PDF settings are set to CMYK so that you don't come out with an RGB file. Open & Set your Distiller to PDF/X-1a before you print is best. (2) Then open that file in Acrobat and save as an EPS file. Set level 2 eps, cmyk color space, an... - Read More at This Link..

Preflight Software :: Please preflight this file

This simple file was created in Illustrator CS2. Saved as an Illustrator PDF. Imposed using Quite Imposing. File looks normal But when I go to print, it is shifted off the page. I tried to print on my desktop laser printer and my Doc 5000. Same results. Any ideas what may be causing this? - Read More at This Link..

the sneaky try is to only have 6 running if you insist on a double click it'll have a go at opening - if its a 7 file it will tell you that 6 is poo and the file was made in a more recent version of poo _ expertise: nothing - Read More at This Link..

Desktop Publishing :: EPS problems converting from Quark 7 to 6

Desktop Publishing :: EPS problems converting from Quark 7 to 6
Having really annoying problems with EPS files in Quark 7. I have a file with a cutter guide in 7, then down-save to 6 and then open the file in quark 6 to check it's ok. Quite often the eps file has re-sized itself and gone out-of position. Its background often goes white too, but there's no actual white background on the eps file. The problem also happens using Markztools when converting to version 4. No one on the Quark site seems to have any suggestions so wondered if anyone here would know. Thanks - Read More at This Link..

I've been using InDesign for a couple of years now and always use it instead of Quark 6 - much prefer the Adobe interface and integration with the other Adobe products and the fact that I can use alpha transparency, drop shadows etc within the app. Quicker and easier. - Read More at This Link..
